Instagram will Hide Like Counts for Users in Canada

According to Engadget, Instagram will begin hiding like counts from users in Canada. At this point, it’s unclear if they will also hide “likes” in other countries.

The idea behind the move appears to be in an effort to make for a “healthier” community—focused more upon the images and videos and less on the metrics of popularity.

From Engadget:

While the original poster will still be able to view their Like counts, users who follow them won’t be able to see that information. Instagram says it is testing this because it wants people to focus on the photos and videos users are sharing, not they amount of likes they’re getting on their posts.

What do you think? Will this help or hurt the user experience of Instagram?
